Honestly, I leave comments enabled on the Grimmjow and Orihime picture because I'm amazed at HOW MANY people leave variants of this comment on it:

awwww how cute! lol he looks like hes gonna rape her!

(Policy change: I'm going to stop posting RAPE IS FUNNY/CUTE/ATTRACTIVE comments from that picture under f-lock. I no longer see a need to protect the commenters from being mocked. But if you go over to DA and engage them about their attitudes, please (a) be civil so I don't get kicked off DA* and (b) let me know, so I can go keep an eye on it and do any banning of sputtering teenyboppers if necessary.)



* I'd prefer to get kicked off for something I did myself, rather than for potentially inciting someone else to do something, if that makes sense.

I have an oooold tutorial on DA that I really ought to delete - DA lost a bunch of uploaded files some time back, and I never found a copy of my tut to re-upload to the site. I've got links in the description to similar tutorials, but periodically get people complaining that they can't download it. Like today, where the comment I got was:

Not sure what I'm going to do about it. I think I'd kind of like them to shift the color or slap a border or something on it, so it's not *mine*, but OTOH I think that's mostly a knee-jerk response because I feel like it's my Online Face she's taken. :)

I posted a DA journal entry asking for people who were open for commissions to list their names so I could pimp them out on the journal. The girl who stiffed me $20 on a commission actually replied to the entry.

Now that's balls.


(Don't go dogpile her or anything, because I don't want to engage in any behavior that might get *me* kicked off DA. I just periodically drop her a very polite comment reminding her of the $20 and warn anyone I see her asking commissions from to get payment up front.)

ETA: Ah. I seem to have engaged her in a few rounds now. It's not like I'd expected her to pay me the $20, but I suspect there's almost no chance I'll get it now. XD

Someone loved my rendition of Inu-Yasha from 2004 so much that she got a tattoo of it. O.o

Just got the notification that the girl I reported to DA for taking someone else's photo, slapping a happy face on it, and attempting to sell it, had the deviation deleted.

When do you suppose she'll post with a whiny screed about "haters" or some such?

(My only regret is that her other photos are so generic it's hard to search and see if she's stolen them, also.)

ETA: Actually, she's now claiming she deleted it. Guess that auto-generated deletion report was lying, huh? XD

Girl posts to DA forums asking if her art is bad. Art, at least the first few pictures, consists of photographs she's taken from dailysnapshots.com or other places, placed happy faces on elements in the pictures, and failed to remove the watermark from. And, by the way, attempting to sell as prints.*

When I post pointing out that dailysnapshot.com has a Creative Commons license allowing no commercial use and no alteration of the work and that she needs to file permission with DA from the photographer to sell works based on his photographs, she hurriedly crops out the watermarks and slaps ugly signatures on them, resubmits the pieces under Fan Art, and replies to me with the most gosh-darn-innocent "Who?" that you've ever seen.

Your ass has been reported, hon.

(Oh, I like the assertion later in the thread that the cactus picture - round cactus in an outdoor bed with gravel - is her cactus from her room. XD)

ETA: Haaah! I am So Damn Tempted to ask her, in the thread, what the lighting setup she used in the picture of the candy was. XD She says she just used her mom's digital camera.

* If someone had ordered one, it wouldn't have gone through as DA checks all prints for resolution and copyright, and even if the copyright has been missed, the resolution wouldn't be high enough for print. But the intent irritated the hell out of me.

...is there a reason everyone's referring to the "coloring" and not the "painting" in the comments on the kitsune maiko on DA? I'd say they were cuing off the mention of linework, because normally you color linework, not paint it, except I also used the word "painting" there.

I'm not worried or angry or anything silly, just mystified. Huh.

Sometimes it's really hard to tell when a DeviantArt user is uploading stolen art.
