12:28 am - Movie Summary: The Fox Family

So instead of listening to all your music suggestions and telling you whether or not that's what I'm looking for, tonight I watched this strange little Korean comedy called The Fox Family. The setup is that there is a family of Korean spirit foxes (kumiho), who have been living for 1000 years. If they survive that long, then manage to eat a human liver during the 30-minute period of a lunar eclipse, they will become human.

The Fox Family, consisting of the father, the son, the older daughter, and the younger daughter - because they either never said each other's names or the translators didn't bother with them - have come down off of Kam Mountain one month before the lunar eclipse, in order to hunt down some humans for this.

Naturally, complications ensue. You see, there's a serial killer loose in the area, and a very suspicious detective wandering around asking questions of strange people. And the Fox Family has disguised themselves as a traveling circus, in order to lure people into their clutches.

Oh, and did I mention it was a musical?Collapse )

01:19 pm - Kumiho

A random thought on Korean foxes in reference to the movie I reviewed. It, necessarily, gives away plot and ending, not that I didn't give away plot and ending in the review/summary already. :D But it will make more sens if you've read the review/summary.

06:32 pm

Have celebrated officially losing FIFTY POUNDS* by buying a heart rate monitor. Discovered that yes, I am indeed within my target heart rate range when on the bike - I was vaguely worried I was too low, as I don't bother to kill myself on it - and that I have a tendency to go over the range when I'm doing weights/calisthenics, which probably explains why I have a hard time convincing myself to do that. I should pull back a bit and take it easier - that's what got me to do the bike on a regular basis.

And I feel vaguely cyborgy, as you wear a strap around your chest that sends signals to a device on your wrist with your heart rate, and it beeps at you if you're over or under it.

On the linkblogging front, those of you who work in libraries can rest assured that crazy patrons have been around for a long time, as this excerpt from the September, 1887 issue of Book-Lore shows. (Via bookshelves of doom)

* Technically 49.2. I'm allowed to round, dammit.

10:32 pm - Okami OST

I just splurged on the Okami OST. Sure, its cost $40.25, but for that price you get five CDs. Or I could have got someone to download and burn it for me, but when purchasing, you get the awesomest CD art evar, as you can see if you go to this page of the Official Okami Thread of Awesome and scroll down about halfway plus it qualified for free worldwide shipping from yesasia.com.
