Of cats and high-pitched noises.

janni posted a link to an article about shopkeepers who play a high-pitched noise that adults can't hear to discourage teens from hnging around their shops, and teens thus co-opting the sound to use as a ringtone to text each other in class without the teacher noticing. There's two clips - I can hear the first one if I plug my earphones in, but the second one, which has the tone being played through crowd noises, I can't hear at all.

My cat, OTOH ... jumped, looked wildly around, and got all weirded out. XD
